Allt Dearg reaps the rewards of Keeping It Local

After a record beating first year of operation, which saw the Allt Dearg Community Wind Farm achieve the highest capacity factor in Great Britain, the Ardrishaig Community Trust has enjoyed the commercial benefits of the winter weather with a further payment of £81,000 from their investment in the Allt Dearg Community Wind Farm partnership.

Ardrishaig’s Community Wind Farm Celebrates Bumper Wind Harvest

The Allt Dearg Community Wind Farm, which is partly owned by the Ardrishaig community, has reached record breaking levels of energy production in the first year of operation. The very windy weather that caused problems in Argyll throughout December pushed the wind farm’s energy output close to a monthly Capacity Factor of 75%, and the annual Capacity Factor to over 50%.

Allt Dearg Shortlisted For Two 2013 Scottish Green Energy Awards

The Allt Dearg Community Wind Farm has been shortlisted in the Community Initiative and Best Project categories of the Scottish Green Energy Awards, presented by Scottish Renewables, the trade body that represents the renewable energy industry in Scotland. The winners will be announced at the Scottish Green Energy Awards Dinner on 5th December in Edinburgh.

Srondoire Gets Green Light From The Council

The Sròndoire Community Wind Farm planning application was unanimously approved by Argyll & Bute Council, when the Planning, Protective Services and Licensing Committee met at Kilmory on Wednesday 23rd October. Sròndoire is the 6MW, three turbine sister project to the successful Allt Dearg Community Wind Farm. Construction works are due to start next spring and the wind farm should be in operation by autumn 2015.

Allt Dearg Trust hands out first educational grants

The Allt Dearg Educational Trust has started to support 17 young people through the 2013/14 academic year, to the tune of over £37,500. The successful applicants, all from Mid Argyll and Cowal, will be receiving their cheques within the next couple of weeks.
