Council committee to consider Sròndoire planning application.

Posted on 16/10/2013 by James Lithgow

Argyll & Bute Council's Planning, Protective Services & Licensing Committee is due to consider the planning application for the three turbine Sròndoire Community Wind Farm at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday 23rd October.

The Sròndoire Community Wind Farm has been in the planning process for 2 years, the formal application was submitted last July.  The three turbine, 6MW wind farm adjacent to Allt Dearg, aims to repeat the successful blend of local and community ownership pioneered by Allt Dearg.  Sròndoire hopes to include the Tarbert and Skipness Community Trust and the Tighnabruaich & District Development Trust as partners.  The planning application has received widespread support from the neighbouring Community Councils.  The proposal has also received support from local Councillors Dougie Philand, Anne Horn, Bruce Marshall and John Mcalpine.  If consent is granted, the works will start next year, with the farm due to be in operation by October 2015.
