The community owned wind farms are now helping to pay the pensions of university staff across the UK.

L1 Renewables Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), has provided debt financing to Allt Dearg and has also taken a participation in the debt funding at Sròndoire Community Wind Farm. USS is the principal private pension schemes for universities and other higher education institutions in the UK.  USS has a long track record of investing in renewable energy including providing debt financing to onshore wind farms, energy from waste plants and energy efficient street lighting.

The Allt Dearg refinance package was managed by Temporis Capital Ltd, who are also agents for the debt funders.
