One of the Allt Dearg turbines has been out of action for a few weeks with a damaged blade. The Vestas service team worked overnight on Thursday last week to fit a replacement blade to Pat.
High wind speeds meant that the Vestas team, who are responsible for the service and maintenance of the Allt Dearg turbines, had to work through the night to take advantage of a brief lull in the weather. A replacement blade was required at Turbine 4 - "Pat" - after blade damage was identified last month. Blade repair and replacement is a routine part of wind farm operation, although the very high wind speeds associated with Allt Dearg add to the complications of refitting the two and half tonne blades 55m from the ground.
